Wise Words
An NCRC father approached me the other day and said something that I found rather profound: "I'm tired of politicians likening each other to preschoolers. I have a preschooler and she is pretty remarkable. She's kind, generous, and thoughtful."
He's right. I know his daughter and she's all that and more. And it led me to think about the other NCRC preschoolers.

NCRC will be celebrating World Days in each classroom February 12-23. We are asking for parent volunteers to greet the children during drop-offs throughout these week. If you would like to share your culture with dress, songs and artifacts at 8:30-9:00am or 12:40-1:00pm on any day please email Miss Marian at mbrice@ncrcpreschool.org
Earth Girl continues to search for recycled treasures to be used for art projects. If you find something interesting to donate, please put in the treasure box on the front porch. We are currently collecting CDS! And any unused 8x11 envelopes! Please drop in the treasure box on the front porch!
Be sure to check out the NCRC puzzle library in the first floor stairwell. Borrow one/keep one for home play.
As always, donations of used puzzles are welcomed.

Invitations from the Board of Trustees
The NCRC Board of Trustees invites the parent community to join us for two recently announced informational sessions:
1. NCRC Bylaws serve as a blueprint for how the Board of Trustees operates. Please join us as we kick off a joint parent/Board effort to review our Board processes and update them as we enter our 90th anniversary. The initial meeting will be held on January 30th at 8:45am in the Playhouse.
2. The Trustee Committee of the Board of Trustees invites parents to learn more about the process of becoming a Trustee and ask any questions regarding Board composition. This meeting will be held on February 2nd at 12:30pm in the Third Floor Conference Room.
Please email the Board of Trustees to RSVP and/or with any questions: boardoftrustees@ncrcpreschool.org.
RSVPs for both meetings are appreciated (so we can be sure we have ample materials and food) but not required. We hope to see you there!
Hearing Screenings
Hearing screenings are well underway! A team of graduate students and clinical supervisors from Gallaudet University joined us on Friday for this annual event. Families will receive a summary report of findings after all screenings have been completed on February 2nd.
Vision Screenings Feb. 6 & 7
Annual Vision Screening by the Prevention of Blindness Society will take place on February 6th & 7th.
3-year-olds will be screened using the HOVT Matching game.
For a successful eye screening with 4 and 5 year-olds, practice the attached E game. 2-year-olds do not participate in the screening.
If you do not wish to have your child participate, or you have questions, please contact Molli Anderson.
Current Families: Re-Enrollment Contracts
NCRC Families please be on the look out for your child's re-enrollment contract. Families will be receiving these electronic contracts by the first week of February. Please be mindful that these contracts are due back no later than February 15th. Please contact the Admissions Office if you have any questions. Thank you so much!
Admissions Applications Accepted Now!
Do you know a family who would love to be a part of the NCRC community? Please spread the word- Admissions Tours are offered weekly through February and we love connecting with interested families anytime! Feel free to reach out to Janet or Jessica in the Admissions Office. The Admissions deadline is February 3! Please help us spread the word!
Tuition Assistance Applications for 2018/19
Families applying for Tuition Assistance for the 2018/19 school year, please apply by February 5, 2018. Go to mytads.com and click on Financial Aid Assessment to log in or to create a new account.
Applications must be completed by February 5 and all supporting documentation provided by February 15 for consideration. Please reach out to Jan Austin with any questions (jaustin@ncrcpreschool.org).
NCRC Rainbow Camp
Rainbow Camp registration will begin on Thursday, February 1st!
Rainbow Camp will be held June 12th through July 20th. (Families can register for all 6 weeks or 4 weeks.)
Creative Camp will run July 23rd through July 27th.
