Wise Words

Gender & Brilliance

I was doing some sleuthing in the research literature recently — one of my favorite pastimes — and I stumbled across a study that, in my opinion, should have gotten much wider circulation. I've spoken and written about sensitive periods in early childhood. There's a sensitive period for language, for a sense of order, and even for social behavior; but there may be another sensitive period that may have remained hidden until now. Read more...

Staff Luncheon Flowers

During the Staff Appreciation Luncheon on Friday, May 4th, each NCRC staff member is gifted with a floral arrangement to take home. This year, NCRC mom and owner of Little Acre Flowers, Tobie Whitman, will be organizing and arranging the flowers in her studio with a small team of parent volunteers.

With this in mind, we're looking to parents to help cover the cost of the beautiful blooms that will be gifted to our teachers, administrators, and support staff!

Whether you sponsor one arrangement or a bevy of bouquets, your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Bouquets are $20 each, which covers the cost of flowers, a vase, and transport material.

Dear CDT, I am an alum parent but I wanted to let you know about a beautiful moment I had at a park recently. My son continues to work on strengthening his mobility. His gait is improving every day. Last weekend we bumped into another former NCRC family at a park in Maryland. The kids were so excited to see each other. We parents were chatting away and the boys decided to go off to the lakeside to look for frogs. Read more...
