By acknowledging, identifying, and celebrating our diversity, we can ensure children learn to respect and value difference from an early age.

Ashley Nartey

Directing Teacher & Director of Diversity, Equity, and Community

About Ms. Nartey

As Director of Diversity, Equity, and Community, Ashley works collaboratively with teaching teams to support the integration of research, books, and resources around diversity into classroom curriculum. She also facilitates professional development programs, discussions and exercises for all faculty members to enhance an inclusive culture. Ashley organizes a variety of events for families, including informal discussions and formal presentations on diversity topics. Also a directing teacher, Ashley is passionate about teaching empathy and bringing a diversity lens into emergent curriculum and the classroom. She enjoys using books as mirrors for children to see themselves reflected, and windows to view the experiences of others. Ashley believes that children have the wonderful capacity to engage in anti-bias work, learn about social justice, and understand and accept differences.
