Lottery Statement
Given the limited number of spaces available during Summer due to COVID-19 and class sizes that adhere to health and safety guidance, a lottery registration system will be conducted to offer placement to those family interested in and committed to attending all five weeks of this program. The lottery system will be conducted in an effort to provide equal access and opportunity to every interested family within our community, regardless of their internet access/bandwidth, etc. All efforts will be made to try to maintain a balance of gender, economic, racial, and ethnic diversity, as well as best supporting each child’s development needs as classes are formed.

Re-enrolling families for the 2021/2022 academic year indicate their interest and commitment by registering for the lottery starting on February 24, 2021.
- All re-enrolling families are asked to register for the lottery by midnight 3/2.
- The lottery will be conducted from these names beginning 3/3 and notifications will be sent by 3/10
Families of new students for the 2021/2022 academic year will be invited to begin sharing their interest and commitment by registering for the lottery on March 17, 2021.
- All new families are asked to register for the lottery by midnight 3/23
- The lottery will be conducted from these names beginning 3/24 and notifications will be sent by 3/31
- Names from the lottery pool will continue to be drawn from the appropriate age tier applicants until all Summer Program spots have been filled.
Placement Notification
Within seven days from the lottery, families will be notified through email of their child's opportunity to participate in the Summer Program. Included will be a link to NCRC’s Diamond Mind account to submit a $100 deposit to secure the space; $90 goes towards tuition, and $10 is an administration fee. To accept the Summer spot, families will have a minimum of four days to submit their deposits and more detail will be included within the notification email.
Given limited class sizes due to pandemic mandates from the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), placements within the specific color groups/classes will be determined by the Director of Programs.
Eligibility
Community Commitments
Adhering to NCRC’s policies and procedures, along with the local Mayoral orders, supports the health and safety of the community. As has been the case throughout the 2020/2021 school year, all families will be required to submit daily health checks for their child through the Magnus App, sign the Summer at NCRC Pledge committing to the wellbeing of the community, strictly follow DC Health’s standards of return to school criteria due to symptoms of illness and adhere to all mandates for quarantining due to travel*, COVID-19 exposure, and/or pending PCR results.
(*Please note, to support the opportunity for full attendance in all five weeks of Summer Program, travel beyond the DMV would need to be restricted from June 12 - July 23.)
Deposits & Payments
Deposit information will be included within the Placement Notification email. The included link will allow for the $100 payment to be submitted with a bank or credit card. From that payment, $10 covers the administration fees and $90 is directed to the Summer tuition.
All families are required to update their “incidental billing” FACTS account by April 15, 2021. Summer tuition is billed and paid through this subset of your FACTS account. During the first week of May, an email from FACTS will be sent as notification that the incidental bill for Summer is ready to view and of the date due. It will automatically be paid from the bank account on file with FACTS “incidental billing” on the due date. The due date will be around May 15, 2021, or about ten days after receiving the FACTS email.
Refund Policy
Any family seeking Summer Program enrollment cancellations must give written notice to the Director of Programs on or before April 29, 2021. Deposit is non-refundable.
Any NCRC family who withdraws from the 2021/2022 school year before June 1, 2021 will forfeit their child’s Summer Program placement but will be eligible for a full refund of Summer Program tuition, minus the $100 deposit. (Families must also submit a written notification of withdrawal to the Director of Programs before June 1st.)
Should any family withdraw from NCRC after June 1, 2021, Summer Program placement will be forfeited and the tuition paid will not be eligible for refund.
Should the Summer Program be cancelled due to COVID-19 before the program begins, as mandated by Mayoral Orders or the School, the full amount paid (minus the $10 administration fee) will be applied towards the 2021/2022 school year.
Should NCRC need to close a class at any time during the Summer Program, due to a COVID-19 related issue, families affected by the related closure will receive a prorated credited for those days to their FACTS account in August 2021.
